You should also level and smoothen its turns.

Now make sure that the rubber washer is with the showerhead that is used to make a tight grip. The final step is to connect the showerhead and rotate it till it is fixed on the threads of the arm properly.

Make sure your bathroom is clean and the newly installed showerhead is not leaking water. If it is leaking water, the possible reason can be a loose rubber or washer, a faulty shower head, and a deteriorated shower arm.

In the first case, you just need to tighten the showerhead a little more. While if the issue remains the same, the showerhead might need to be replaced. Whereas, if the shower arm is old and corroded, it is strongly recommended to replace it even before the installation of a new showerhead.
